Matej Pirc, New President of Management Board of Slovenska odškodninska družba, d. d.
Together with the new President, the Management Board of Slovenska odškodninska družba, d.d. will continue to strive to operate according to the highest standards of corporate governance and for the consistent payment of compensation to beneficiaries
On 1 April 2014, the leadership of the Management Board of Slovenska odškodninska družba, d.d. (hereinafter referred as "SOD") was taken over by Matej Pirc. Prior to taking up the position of the President of the Management Board, he was a SOD's Management Board member, appointed to that position on 15 May 2013. Matej Runjak, the existing Management Board member, appointed on 8 May 2013, will continue to hold this position.
Matej Pirc has taken over the leadership of SOD from Tomaž Kuntarič in a period of time when the procedures for the adoption of a renewed Slovenian Sovereign Holding Act are coming to their end. In line with this Act, Slovenska odškodninska družba will finally be reorganized into Slovenian Sovereign Holding. SOD started to take the first steps towards its reorganisation in 2012, immediately after the adoption of the original Slovenian Sovereign Holding Act. Among the key tasks that have significantly increased the scope of operations of SOD was the assumption of the management of capital assets of the Republic of Slovenia. Pursuant to the consent submitted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia in June 2013 in regard to the disposal of capital assets held by the Republic of Slovenia, SOD has been actively involved in the processes of sale of capital assets in relevant companies. At the same time, since its incorporation, SOD has been committed to implementing compensation to beneficiaries in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Slovenia.
Upon his assuming the function of the President of the Management Board, Matey Pirc said: "By pursuing the reorganization process, SOD is becoming one of the key players in asset management in Slovenia which imposes a great obligation on us. SOD will, as it has up until now, provide for the smooth payment of compensation to beneficiaries in compliance with its mission. Special attention will be dedicated to an orchestrated management of capital assets of the Republic of Slovenia with the goal of achieving stable ownership and sustainable maximization of profitability and value of these assets in order to attain economic and development goals as well as public interest goals, in line with the guidelines and decisions of the owner. At the same time, our task will be to prepare everything necessary for the reorganization into Slovenian Sovereign Holding to run smoothly. Top experts are employed in SOD. Knowledge, expertise and experiences provide us with an excellent foundation to position Slovenian Sovereign Holding in the arena of corporate governance as an expert, responsible and transparent asset management operator. I hope that by means of good work we will manage to establish SSH as an entity which, by its example, dictates the principle of the integrity of operation of companies in Slovenia.
