Janez Tomšič Appointed as Member of SSH Management Board
Today, on 21 April 2021, the Supervisory Board of Slovenian Sovereign Holding unanimously appointed Janez Tomšič as a new member of SSH Management Board. He will assume his office on 23 April 2021, after, on 22 April 2021, the term of office will be terminated for Vanessa Grmek who was appointed on 1 February 2021 by way of the Court Order.
The members of the Supervisory Board thanked Vanessa Grmek for her constructive cooperation and work performed during this period.
Following a resignation by two Members of the SSH Management Board in the beginning of January 2021, the Nomination Committee of the SSH Supervisory Board carried out the selection procedure in order to fill in the vacancy in the SSH Management Board, in accordance with ZSDH-1, and in cooperation with Trescon, an international HR agency.
Candidates who were short-listed based on their satisfaction of selection requirements, passed the relevant tests and carried out structured interviews, after which their candidacy was evaluated by the HR agency and by the Nomination Committee. Following the conducted interviews and after the candidates' evaluation was made, while considering candidates' experience, other statutory requirements to be satisfied by a Member of SSH Management Board, and the Criteria for Determining and Evaluating the suitability of candidates, the Nomination Committee proposed to the SSH Supervisory Board to appoint Janez Tomšič as the new Member of SSH Management Board.
On the basis of an in-depth assessment of candidates, considering their professional, strategic, operational and leadership competences, as well as organisational and personal competences, in addition to specific skills, the SSH Supervisory Board has endorsed the proposal by the Nomination Committee to appoint Janez Tomšič as the Member of the SSH Management Board.
Janez Tomšič (1979) holds a University Degree in Law obtained at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and is experienced in running and supervising business entities. He dedicated the most of his career to the state-owned D.S.U., družba za svetovanje in upravljanje, d. o. o., in which he assumed various managerial positions, including the position of one of two directors of the subsidiary company, DSU nepremičnine, d. o. o., and the position of a member of the management of D.S.U., responsible for investment activites and real estate management which he held in the 2015 – 2019 period. Since 2007, he has held supervisory positions in supervisory boards of SOEs and other public sector organisations (for example, Housing Fund), and is currently the Deputy President of the Supervisory Board of SID banka, d. d. He regularly takes part in supplementary training programmes, particularly on corporate governance, law, financial management and banking, and thus contributes to improving his several years of experience in the management and supervision of companies, in strategic planning, asset management and real estate management, human resource management, planning and implementation of investment projects. He holds a certificate by the Slovenian Directors' Association for rendering the services of a member of a Supervisory Board and a Management Board.
